FeatherPort

We are your IT team.

Email, accounts, backups and security, looked after for firms with no IT department. When something stops working, you contact one place and it gets fixed.

If two or three of these are true, this page is for you.

Who this is for

Firms of roughly five to thirty people with nobody whose actual job is IT. We work on site in Akure and across Ondo State, and remotely for firms in Lagos and the rest of Nigeria.

  • Nobody here is paid to look after the computers.
  • One person has quietly become the office IT person on top of their real job.
  • You are not certain the backups are working, or whether anyone has ever tested one.
  • Work email is on personal phones and nobody has a list of who can reach what.
  • Something important is still tied to an account belonging to someone who left.

This is the whole list. If something you need is not on it, we will say so rather than quietly leave it out.

What is covered

Email and accounts
Mailboxes, shared calendars and files, with multi-factor authentication on every account. Starters and leavers handled the same day you tell us.
Backup you can trust
Backups run for your email and files, and we prove they work by restoring from them. A backup nobody has ever restored is a guess.
Mail that arrives
Your domain and DNS, with SPF, DKIM and DMARC set correctly, so your invoices reach customers instead of their spam folder and nobody can easily send mail pretending to be you.
Security monitoring
We watch for sign-ins that should not be happening and accounts behaving strangely, and we act before you notice.
A helpdesk
One place your staff go when something stops working, answered by someone who already knows your setup.
People working away from the office
Home and travelling staff get the same access, the same protection and the same help as the people at a desk.

What it costs depends on how many of you there are. How it is charged does not, and that is the part worth knowing now.

How the bill works

One monthly fee, based on how many people you have

Not per machine, not per problem, and not per hour. You know what next month costs before it starts.

Asking for help is never an extra charge

Nobody should be weighing up whether a problem is worth the phone call. Support is the service, not an add-on to it.

Your subscriptions are billed to you, at cost

Microsoft, Google and anything else you license stay on your own accounts, paid by you, with nothing added on top by us.

We quote after we have seen what you have

Not from a price list and not over the phone before anyone has looked. Work outside the monthly service, such as an office move or a new site, is quoted separately before it starts.

Tell us how many people you have and what you are running, and you get a number in writing.

Published so you can hold us to it. Every date below is a commitment, not an estimate.

The first sixty days

Most of the risk in a small firm is in things nobody has looked at for years. So we start by finding all of it, then close the worst of it, and only then settle into routine service.

  1. Days 1 to 15

We find out what you actually have

Every account, machine, domain and subscription written down in one inventory, with a risk list ranked worst first. You get both, whether or not you carry on with us.

  2. By day 40

    The exposures are closed

We work down that list: multi-factor authentication everywhere, backups running and restored from once, mail records fixed, old accounts removed.

  3. By day 60

Routine service, and the first report

Monitoring, patching and the helpdesk are running as normal service, and you get the first monthly report.

Read this part twice, then ask whoever looks after your IT now whether they can say the same.

What you own

  • Your domain is registered in your name, not ours.
  • Your Microsoft, Google and other subscriptions are billed to you, on your own accounts.
  • You hold global administrator rights to everything, at all times, including while we work for you.
  • If you leave, your data comes back to you in an open format.
  • There is no exit fee.

None of this is unusual to ask for. It is unusual to be given, which is why it is written here rather than buried in a contract.

One page a month. If it takes longer than five minutes to read, we have written it badly.

What you get every month

  • What broke, and how long each thing took to put right.
  • Whether the backups were restored from, and whether the restore worked.
  • Which machines and accounts are behind, and what we are doing about them.
  • What we recommend you spend money on next, and what you can safely ignore.

Ask us anything that is not here and we will answer it in a sentence, not a brochure.

Questions we get asked

Do we have to move our email or change how we work?

No. We start with what you already have and fix what is wrong with it. If moving something would genuinely make your life better, we will explain why before anyone touches it, and it is still your decision.

We already have someone who fixes things when they break. Why change?

Because fixing things is the easy half. The work that stops the next outage happening is the half that gets skipped: an inventory nobody has, backups nobody has tested, accounts belonging to people who left, and multi-factor authentication that is on for some people and not others.

Who actually answers when we contact you?

The people who set your systems up. There is no first line reading from a script before you reach anyone who can help, and no ticket you have to raise before you can ask a question.

Do you need to come to the office?

Rarely. Everything covered above is done without anyone visiting. We come to you when a problem genuinely needs someone in the room.

What happens to everything if we stop working with you?

You keep all of it, because it was in your name the whole time. Your data comes back to you in an open format, and there is no exit fee. Nothing about leaving needs to be negotiated at the point you want to leave.

A real person reads this. You will not be asked to raise a ticket to ask a question.

Tell us what keeps breaking

Describe your setup in your own words: how many people, what you use for email, and what has gone wrong recently. We will tell you what we would fix first and what it would cost, before you commit to anything.
